Camera and privacy
The camera turns on only after you press "Turn on camera" and allow the browser permission prompt. Video is used inside your browser solely to find your hand; it is not sent or stored anywhere, including our server. The hand detection model files are served from this site itself, so no external service is contacted. The camera turns off as soon as you press "Turn off camera" or leave the page.
How does it work?
A hand detection model running in your browser reads where your hand is and how large it looks. Hold it in front of the fire at the lower center of the screen: the closer it is (about 20-40cm from the screen), the more the stove heat (brightness and flame size) rises.
The stove heats up quickly and cools down slowly, like a real one, and the signal is smoothed so small detection jitter does not make the flame flicker. Without the camera, the closer your mouse cursor or finger is to the fire, the brighter it glows.
FAQ
Is my camera video stored or sent anywhere?
No. Video is analyzed only inside your browser and is never stored, recorded or transmitted. The camera turns off when you press Turn off camera or leave the page.
I have no camera, or I do not want to allow it.
You can still play. Move your mouse cursor or finger close to the stove and it glows in the same way.
The stove barely reacts when I bring my hand close.
Open your palm in front of the fire on screen (lower center), about 20-40cm from the screen. The closer, the brighter; if your hand drifts away from the fire or is too far, the stove returns to its resting glow. Use a well-lit place so the whole hand is visible to the camera.
Does it work on phones?
Yes, on recent phone browsers with a front camera. Without the camera you can use your finger instead. On slower devices hand detection may react a little late.
